PROFESSION DEVELOPED THROUGH EXPERIENCE
Education is the key for development; however, it is impossible to think the quality of education without having academically qualified and professional responsible teachers. Practice teaching is an important component towards becoming a teacher. It provides experiences to student teachers in the actual teaching and learning environment. During teaching practice, a student-teacher is given the opportunity to try the art of teaching before actually getting into the real world of the teaching profession. Student-teachers also know the value of teaching practice and they perceive it as the important aspect of their preparation for the teaching profession since it provides for the real interface between student hood and membership of the profession.
Teaching
is a profession and teaching needs a lot of time to spend. I can say that
teaching is too hard, wherein you need to be serious in every step. February-May, I
gained a lot of experiences interms of preparing my lesson plan and dealing
with my students. Based on my experienced to my online class both grade 7 and
grade 9, I’m lucky that all of them are active. I’m glad that they can answer
all my questions about our discussion. One of the memorable questions that I
asked to them, wherein they site there answer through their experiences. I
asked them a question, the question goes like this “Can you live without the
internet? Can you imagine the world without the internet?” Through these
questions, I made my class active. After my class to both grade 7 and grade 9,
me and my cooperating teacher talk to each other regarding to my teaching
demonstration. She told me that, I’ve good teaching demonstration not like to my
first week of teaching. She told me that, every teaching I had there are
development or improvement in executing my lesson. I’m happy to hear her
comments about my teaching demonstration.
She gave me also some motivational words before we formally end the
call. I’m glad that I have a great, kind and considerate cooperating teacher. I
want to follow her step because she is a competitive type of teacher. Through
her characteristics as a teacher, I saw myself to become a professional
someday. I knew that I had partner that can develop my teaching ability to
become a competitive teacher someday.
A Role of Influence
I
have always valued the role I play as a teacher in the growth of my students.
While the importance of academic growth in students is obvious, I also
recognize the importance of each student’s social and emotional growth as well.
As a teacher, I have a powerful influence on my students’ growth in each of
these areas of their lives, and I was able to see the importance of this
influential role during this past week.
Nearing the End
First,
I have learned the importance of messing up. I know, this sounds crazy, but I
have found myself nervous about screwing something up. I expected always to plan
the perfect lesson, explain everything perfectly, and have everything go
smoothly and as planned. And let me be the first to say, this is rarely the
case. I have learned how important it is to accept that we are not perfect
teachers, and neither are our cooperating teachers! We all have things to learn,
and my student teaching experience has taught me how to learn from my mistakes
rather than letting them eat away at me. I learned something from my
cooperating teacher and from the students, and being open to this and
vulnerable allowed me to grow, adapt, and think on my feet! Having these
experiences is the true life of a teacher.
